How we decide what's worth your time.

The methodology behind every destination and every recommendation on this site.

How destinations are chosen

We prioritise underserved, adventurous, outdoor and small destinations across Australia — places the major travel sites and generic aggregators tend to overlook. We're rolling out state by state, starting with Queensland, favouring lesser-known destinations within each state before its more famous anchor locations.

Where the content comes from today

Right now, Audacia is a single-founder operation. Every published guide is either based on Craig's own visit, or clearly marked as a preview built from independent, official sources (park authorities, tourism bodies) while real content is queued. We're upfront about which is which on every destination page — a guide that hasn't been personally researched or visited yet is always labelled "coming soon," never presented as finished.

The creator-vetting model (where it applies)

Where we link out to third-party creators instead of writing our own guide, they're assessed against a published methodology — factors like depth of first-hand experience, recency, independence from paid promotion, and production quality. We aim to feature at most three ranked sources per destination, not a long undifferentiated list.

AI's role

AI is used to move fast on research, drafting, and logistics — pulling together permits, opening hours, and background facts from independent sources. The judgement calls — whether somewhere is actually worth featuring, how it should be ranked, what to say about it — are directed by Craig, not generated unsupervised.

Full destination guides are written by one of six named editorial desks, each covering a type of place rather than a region — a way of giving guides a consistent, matched voice without implying a human author. Every guide states this plainly, once, in its verification footer.

Audacia Verified

A guide carrying the Audacia Verified stamp has had every fact in its Snapshot block checked against the official sources listed at the foot of that page, on the date shown. It's a specific, checkable process claim — not a claim about who wrote the page.

How we make money

Audacia earns a commission when you book accommodation, tours or activities through partner links on this site (currently Booking.com and Viator, with more partners planned). This never affects which destinations we choose to cover or how we rank them — commission structure has no bearing on editorial decisions.
